Sustainable Construction

Thus let’s explore the possibilities to transform the real estate development to “Sustainable” real estate development with Krrrish Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) blocks – A Sustainable Alternative.

With increased awareness worldwide to the concept of ‘Green Building’, builders, architects and engineers are working towards constructing buildings that are designed in such a way that it can reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment by:
  • Efficiently using energy, water, and other resources
  • Protecting occupant health and improving employee productivity along with
  • Reducing waste, pollution and environmental degradation

Mentioned below are the Seven Criteria’s to Qualify for a LeedCertification :

  • Implement Erosion & Sedimentation Control to reduce negative effects on water and air quality.
  • Ensure fundamental building elements and systems are designed , installed and calibrated to operate as intended.
  • Establish the minimum level of energy efficiency for the proposed building and systems.
  • Employ ChloroFluoro carbon Reduction in HVAC & R Equipment to reduce ozone depletion.
  • Facilitate the reduction of waste generated by building occupants and disposed of in landfills by ensuring storing and collection of recyclables.
  • Establish minimum indoor air quality (IAQ) performance to prevent indoor air quality problems in the building , thus contributing to the comfort and well –being of the occupants.
  • Minimize exposure of building occupants , indoor surfaces and ventilation air distribution system to Environmental Tobacco Smoke ( ETS )
An increasing phenomenon in today’s date, the effects of global warning is visible for all to see. And constituting majorly is the construction industry. Global Warming is defined as increase in the average temperature of the earth's surface caused by increased emission of greenhouse gases. Increased usage of ACs, Industrial pollution and deforestation are some of the main reasons of global warming. Un-planned design and construction material while constructing buildings are responsible for extensive energy consumption. Use of traditional building materials also cause top soil erosion, thereby devastating the land’s cultivation potential permanently. However with small steps taken by all, the impact on the planet can be reduced considerably. Below is a quick checklist to help reduce the impact global warming:
  • Reduce consumption of Air Conditioners
  • Aim for Eco-friendly housing
  • Plan & grow more trees around your house
  • Plan the construction in such a way to reduce the equipment needs
  • Try to reduce the usage of fossil fuels
  • Use a staircase instead of an elevator where ever possible
  • Use light weight organic material and not synthetic materials, since they not only consume less energy in manufacturing but also, help to save the recurring cost of electricity
The increasing carbon foot print on the environment is a growing concern. The carbon foot prints of Krrish AAC blocks are considerably less compared to traditional walling materials (per sqft carbon levels: AAC blocks 2.13 kg of CO2, clay bricks 17.6 kg of CO2, concrete walls 14 kg of CO2). Aiding further, the light weight of Krrish AAC blocks reduces the carbon emission as more cubic meter can be transported per truck load as compared to traditional walling material (3 trucks traditional material in cu m equates 1 truck AAC blocks in cu m).
